Transportation Manager

Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm
Salary: $105,000 + 12% annual bonus and excellent benefits
Summary:
The Transportation Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of outbound freight operations, ensuring service levels are met efficiently while minimizing costs. This role includes leading the Transportation Department, ensuring team safety and DOT compliance, and implementing strategies for continuous improvement. CDL A or B is highly preferred as driving may be required depending upon driver call outs. This position will be responsible for multiple state transport including Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina and Washington, D.C.
The right candidate will have a true grasp of the technology of truck transportation including Geotab, Lytx, RoadNet, Telematics or other Transportation software and have the ability to teach it to their team.
What you will be doing:
- Team & Safety Leadership: Ensure a safe work environment; train and supervise team members in safety procedures.
- Operational Management: Oversee multi-state transportation operations for efficient delivery, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
- Strategic Implementation: Develop and implement strategies to meet or exceed departmental and corporate objectives.
- Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with Distribution, Logistics, and Sales teams to optimize operational efficiencies.
- Staff Development: Recruit, train, and manage personnel; provide regular performance feedback and professional development opportunities.
- Route Optimization: Evaluate routing software and route efficacy, making improvements to support organizational goals.
What you bring:
- Education & Experience: BS/BA degree or equivalent; minimum of 5 years in transportation management.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient with office equipment and routing software (RoadNet, Geotab, Lytx); strong computer skills.
- Leadership & Communication: Strong communication skills, with proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Licensing: Valid Driver’s License (CDL-B required).
- Safety & Compliance Focus: Knowledge of DOT compliance; commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
